I'll be landing in orlando and driving to either Ft Lauderdale or Miami to go to the Bahamas. Havent decided if I want to make it a day trip or stay over night so I can get there mid day, enjoy the day and night and leave the next evening. What's the best way to get to the Bahamas? I thought there would be plenty of boats or small planes but I havent found much good. The "Ferry Express" comes out to about $170.00 and I read it is a terrible ship. I thought there would be boat that could take you for like $30 one way as a "taxi." please help me out.

I live in Ft Lauderdale and travel to the Bahamas OFTEN. I myself take private planes which run about $400 round trip.

The cheapest way (especially a dy trip ) is the Balearia or "Ferry express" as you call it.

Here are their Facebook photos

I have heard nothing but great things about the ferry myself !!! I don't go to Nassau so I personally have no experience but when I looked into them and joined them on Facebook I thought they looked great.

For the price you can't beat them . They are going to open up Bimini shortly and it may be up and running in time for your trip.

What I did hear was some complaints from tourists missing the return which really was poor planning on the travelers side and NOT the ferry.

Either fly there from Orlando, or go through FLL or MIA.
