The stability of the Bahamian economy is due in part to the Bahamian Dollar. In order to facilitate more fluid economic transactions the Bahamian Dollar has been pegged on a 1:1 ratio to the U.S. Dollar. The U.S. Dollar and the Bahamian Dollar are used interchangeably throughout the islands.

The official currency of the Bahamas is the Bahamian dollar (BSD or BS$). It is pegged at a value of 1 US$, and merchants accept both US$ and BS$ for purchases, and give both for change.
Because of the common use of the US$, you'll see far more US currency than Bahamian.
