Flights from the US to other countries do not generally need to pass through the Bahamas, no. Although if you're flying from the US to a small Caribbean island, e.g. Dominica, you'd need to make connections somewhere, but it would probably be Puerto Rico or St. Thomas.

if you are asking if you need a passport..



If traveling by plane yes. If traveling by sea on a closed loop cruise a driver's license will work if the cruise begins and ends in the same US port.

Even on a cruise, you will need a US passport to reenter the US
